Bravados

Watched Gregory Peck star in "The Bravados."  It was neat how he would make sure and get his rest before tracking people down to bring them to justice . . . the next morning.  They would then get held up and he would mosey up all well rested.  It was fun to watch.

Take a ride on the War Wagon

Kirk Douglas AND John Wayne!!?!?  How can you go wrong?  Well John Wayne is great as always, but in this one Kirk Douglas really steals the show.  Throughout the film he does all these great stunts where he jumps on his horse in a different and fantastic way.

I never knew a Redhead from Wyoming

In fact I don't think I've ever known anyone from Wyoming, but Maureen O'Hara represents them well.  In this movie, that I watched yesterday, she does a great job portraying a woman who is strong and independent, but still compassionate and steady.  At one point she is set up, and many in the town think the worst of her, but she still does the right thing by them, showing resilience and integrity of character.  I meant to blog this yesterday but I was too tired last night.

He rides tall

About a sheriff who comes up against a nemesis from earlier in life.  It really is a story about a guy trying to do the right thing, which is why I liked it.  Also the ex-con nemesis character is played by a fine actor:  Dan Duryea

No Border Feuds in our house

This morning I watched "Border Feud."  I had to get my cowboy fix in early because today I am spending the day on a date with my lovely wife.  We are going to Butterfly World in Ft. Lauderdale.  Today is our 34th anniversary!  She is the only cowgirl for this buckaroo.

The Shootist can still shoot

Today I watched "The Shootist" with John Wayne and Lauren Bacall.  I thought it was interesting how the character John Wayne was playing was struggling with his health and old age, and that he was also struggling at the time in real life.  Also of note Ron Howard, a favorite director of mine, who you may know as Opie from the Andy Griffith Show, played a teenager in the film.
