A fist full of Saturday
There's nothing like some good father-son time and watching a cowboy movie on a Saturday afternoon. For some reason I remember Clint getting beat up for a longer period of time. While his face was in an extremely sad state of affairs, I somehow thought that he endured more of a beating. I guess it was just very memorable. On a side note, gotta love the undertaker's seemingly sadistic excitement about the constantly growing number of fatalities. Hey there's horses and gun-play, what else do you want? Also Ennio Morricon score is unforgettable.

The Law IS Jake Wade
Maybe you've had some "nice" friends that were really out for you? Jake (Robert Taylor) is a former outlaw turned lawman. His old robbery buddy Clint (Richard Widmark) acts friendly, but is truly evil and powerful. It makes for a great story. However, Richard Widmark is so good at being bad with his steely eyes yet his friendly fake smile that you feel pulled in to his gritty dark web of lies. It is good to see a man make righteous choices and Robert Taylor comes through when you need him to.

Bravados
Watched Gregory Peck star in "The Bravados." It was neat how he would make sure and get his rest before tracking people down to bring them to justice . . . the next morning. They would then get held up and he would mosey up all well rested. It was fun to watch.

Take a ride on the War Wagon
Kirk Douglas AND John Wayne!!?!? How can you go wrong? Well John Wayne is great as always, but in this one Kirk Douglas really steals the show. Throughout the film he does all these great stunts where he jumps on his horse in a different and fantastic way.
I never knew a Redhead from Wyoming
In fact I don't think I've ever known anyone from Wyoming, but Maureen O'Hara represents them well. In this movie, that I watched yesterday, she does a great job portraying a woman who is strong and independent, but still compassionate and steady. At one point she is set up, and many in the town think the worst of her, but she still does the right thing by them, showing resilience and integrity of character. I meant to blog this yesterday but I was too tired last night.

He rides tall
About a sheriff who comes up against a nemesis from earlier in life. It really is a story about a guy trying to do the right thing, which is why I liked it. Also the ex-con nemesis character is played by a fine actor: Dan Duryea

No Border Feuds in our house
This morning I watched "Border Feud." I had to get my cowboy fix in early because today I am spending the day on a date with my lovely wife. We are going to Butterfly World in Ft. Lauderdale. Today is our 34th anniversary! She is the only cowgirl for this buckaroo.
